Gone.

I have some scary exciting news. We’re moving our site. Yep. WordPress, in all it’s fabulousness is just not cutting it for GiveThemRoots. So, we’re making the big switch over to Blogger. I have used Blogger for a personal family blog in the past and I think it’s tremendously easier to use. I can also bring YOU, my wonderful readers, a lot of really cool stuff using Blogger that my hands are tied with on WordPress. I had heard marvelous things about WordPress, and maybe if you’re a little more computer saavy than I am it’s better, but for this multi-tasking Momma, I just don’t have the time for WordPress’ mental challenges.

So, over the next few days you’ll notice some major changes on GiveThemRoots. Do not fret!!!! You will still find us at www.GiveThemRoots.com and hopefully, if I do it right anyone currently subscribing to GTR will still receive updates. I’ll keep you posted as the changes progress, but hold on to your seats because this might be a wild ride!

I am very excited about the changes that will come with moving the site, including a fabulous new look!

Political Ponders: What is it about Palin?

I’m sure the majority of GTR readers are voting for the Democratic Presidential nominee, at least that seems to be the way the vote leans with environmentally conscious citizens. Not that you can’t vote for the Republican ticket and be environmentally friendly, the two just don’t really go hand in hand, especially in this 2008 election. Well, I’m counting on some of my readers leaning towards the Republican nominee, for the sole purpose of answering the following questions.

I have had several people mention to me that they “hate McCain but love Palin” or “would never have voted for McCain until Palin” or “were unsure about voting for McCain until Palin”, so tell me… What do you love about Sarah Palin that would cause you to vote for the Republican Presidential candidate? Enough to essentially, change your mind about McCain?

I am honestly very curious about this. I can go as far to say that I’m baffled by Palin’s draw. It’s almost like she has some odd gravitational pull that is causing women to say “they can relate to her”. That brings me to my next question… Is relating to a Presidential (or VP) nominee a good reason to give them your vote?

Top Secret Recipe

I have a super easy and delicious “cookie” recipe that I make frequently for my family. Because I love you guys exuberantly I’m willing to share it with you. There’s no art to this, no real written recipe, and not an ounce of anything healthy so, I can’t say that these cookies are going to give your kids any kind of “roots” but they will most definitely bring a smile to their face!

“Mexican Cookies” Maybe a more PC term might be Latino cookies? I don’t know. We can’t come up with a worthy name for these so this is what we call them…for now.

3 flour tortillas
ground cinnamon
sugar
chocolate chips
caramel sauce

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Using a pizza cutter (or kitchen sheers) cut each tortilla into 8 wedges. Arrange on a non-greased cookie sheet. Lightly spritz tortillas with water, a Pampered Chef Spritzer works wonders here. Sprinkle sugar over tortillas (I just grab a handful, enough to lightly coat each “cookie”). Lightly sprinkle cinnamon over tortillas. Top with chocolate chips, again I just do a handful. I’ve carefully arranged them, and I’ve literally just tossed them on and they are delicious either way. Bake for 8 minutes or until slightly crisp. Drizzle caramel sauce over “cookies” while they are still on the pan. Serve hot.

Makes 24 “cookies”

These are heaven with a scoop of vanilla ice cream to use as dip. ENJOY!
